Terrance doesn't seem to sure about it. While he might have been a Mage Hand in the past, he has grown quite fond of his physical silk glove body and doesn't know how well he would manage on the other side. He can shrink down pretty small with the rings, but not small enough to fit through a water-tight steel seal.

I scramble a bit further away from the "water", just in case something wanted to sneak up on me from under the waves. Then I catch my breath and try to wipe the sludge from my face. Nasty.
It's completely dark, I presume? How's my last remaining torch? Would I be able to light it?
Would I know if I managed to swim back to the path where we came, or to some other place along the lake's shore? If I can get some light, I will start looking for a way back to the hatches and my party.

I pull out the shrink ray and shrink the lid on the hatch above us. Should make a crack for Terrance to go through and or the goblins.

I am going to help hurridly dumping out the liquid sloshing inside until enough is gone that I can shove the barrel over the mouth.

The shrink ray fires, on the lowest setting, and a tiny crack opens in the hatch. Immediately, a spray of filthy oily water streaks down, splattering everywhere and very slowly starting to fill the room...
Hurricane: The barrel is very heavy. Even empty, you don't think you'd be able to shift it by hand.

Is the liquid not draining down into mouth face down there?
How much liquid seems to be above us? Anything less than a foot seems manageable.
I’m going to try and wake phykalla usual slapping methods careful not to mess with the mask

Oh, you're quite right! The fluid is getting gulped down by the face, it's not filling up the chamber. There is quite a lot. You could try and push up or shrink the hatch more, but you'll be in a sticky situation either way. Her eyes flutter a bit, but she doesn't seem quite awake just yet.
Jax: It's absolutely gross, and it's gotten in your boots and your undergarments and up your nose and in your ears and just... everywhere. It takes quite a bit of effort to light the torch, especially in pitch black, but you finally get a smokey light going. You eventually gather your wits and your bearings, you are at the very first entrance that you came from originally. Do you want to go back to the hatches?

I will have Terrance shoot through the crack and open the hatch from the other side. Let’s drown this giant face. I will keep focusing on checking phykalla. Anything else appear to be in the bin?

Yes, I would like to find my way back to the party.

THe goblins are not afraid of sticky situations, I'm gonna dump them into the tub to help bail out the stuff. I'll tell them to avoid consuming it but if they like the taste I won't stop them.

Blerble: Nothing is in the bin other than Phykalla and the fluid, you aren't sure much at all else would even fit. Terrance does two loops and flies up the surge of fluid, spluttering all the way. The hatch lifts a little, then falls back again. "It's too heavy boss! I can't do it!"
Jax: You're making your way swiftly around the lake, faster this time now you know what the path is like. There's suspicious splashing sounds coming from out in the middle of the waters. When you get back to the hallway north, you can see the flow of oily water hasn't abated, spraying out in an arc and splashing down into the lake.
Hurricane: The goblins all pile in, splashing the fluid out onto the floor below, and a fair bit on you as well. Keeping an eye down on your bizarre foe, you can see the floor-mouth gulping down the water pouring from above. It's cheeks bulge with pressure, boiling steam leaking from between metal lips, and it's three eyes rove around the room before fixing squarely on you... what do you do?

“Everyone push up on the lid from below!” Terrance can run the handle while we give it the oomph from below.
“Someone grab that shield to guard from the tunnel mouth!”
I will push from below.

I wait. Hopefully the reservoir of the oily water is not endless.

Jax: Honestly, it doesn't seem to be abating. You'll probably be able to wade through it though, with a bit of difficulty and risk of slipping.
Blerbles: The mouth turns directly towards you. If you're stuck in place while pushing the lid up, you'll take double damage from whatever is coming.

I continue my upwards push! This thing is gonna get a bunch of water down it’s gullet.

I will tie my rope to the entrance of the tunnel (if there is some usable place) and myself to the other end, to have a safety line if I get swept off my feet. I will also leave the torch back by the tunnel entrance, so that it won't get soaked and maybe will provide some glints of light even in the tunnel.
Then I will make my way upstream.

Jax: You do all of that, and it seems like it's working pretty well! Wading through the oily flow is hard, but you've got both hands to steady yourself. Ahead, you can see just barely see Terrance pulling gamely at the hatch, his white silk body stained a dull grey already.
Blerbles: The floor-mouth narrows it's eyes, purses it's lips, and spits a stream of boiling hot not-quite-water directly at you!
Damage: iWnqrQuZ1d6x2
Ahh! It burns! And it's still spraying more of the boiling fluid! What do you do?1d6

Yikes. I am definitely wiggling but I gotta keep pushing, any cracks would get some water pouring on me and cooling me down.

I will try to hook my crowbar into the trapdoor and crack it open to relieve the pressure and open up the door. I cant really maneuver in here so I'm just trying to get everyone out.

We've got Terrance and Jax pulling, Blerbles and Frankie pushing, and the force of an small river bearing down on the hatch opposing them. The metal hatch creaks and grinds open, letting in a flood of even more water. The floor-mouth lets out a last spray off toxic smoke and boiling sludge towards Blerbles, who will take 1d4 damage unless he can do something about it. It then turns and bites down on Hurricane's injured leg! Hurricane will take 1d6 damage if he pulls it out of the metal jaws.

Will the cascade of water coming in from the hatch block the sludge coming towards me? What is happening to the water entering the hatch is it all just draining down pipe mouth there? (I wonder how they blow, some sorta lungs?)
Is the barrel rising with the tide so to speak?
I think I will just take the damage. More important to get this hatch open.

Blerbles lives! ((I completely forgot to add this into the post above, the damage was already reduced to d4 due to the downpour. I'll make sure to keep that obvious next time))
Most of the fluid is going down the mouth, but there is so much that it is starting to form a filthy swirling whirlpool.
The barrel isn't rising, since it's still full of a fair amount of the goop.

Once the hatch is open and seems to be staying that way, I will use phykalla’s helmet to bail out the bin, we can rise with phykalla.

The hatch has been propped open and is jammed in that position with Hurricane's crowbar. Unfortunately, if Hurricane moves the crowbar is liable to slip and the hatch to be forced back shut again.

In addition to the rope I'm already using to secure myself, I also have a nightingale chain. I will lower it down the hatch and suptter through the rushing water: "Here! Get out of there!"
