How are you going about sensing magic in the tube?
((If you want to copy some of the choicest rumours over to here, be my guest!))

I guess just pump a tiny bit of magic power into the tube and see if it reacts.

I'll try to write some letters into the air towards the tube to see if it reacts. I also want to strike my swords on the ground and see if their vibrations feel differently in this place.

I will knock on the tube. Maybe the symbols will change.

Blerble: The magic you put into the tube just... vanishes? Weird.
Hurricane: Letters in the air does nothing. Tapping your sword on the metal floor makes a sound like a dull and poorly-tuned gong. You imagine you could make the whole place ring like a bell if you hit harder.
Jax: It feels like glass under your knuckles, but there isn't any noise at all. The symbols do seem to cluster a little closer towards where you are?

Can I try to telekinetically touch the symbols inside of the cylinder? I don't want to break the glass, only give the symbols a little push.

You tap the symbols, and they don't seem to move. Then you feel this strange sucking sensation in your brain, as if something is pulling on your mental "hand".
You can pull back easily enough, and the feeling stops, but it's an unsettling feeling.

“It appears to be some sort of magic syphon. Breaking it could cause a huge problem, or boon. Perhaps best to leave it alone for now when we need this place powered.”

"I agree. We should go and see if the hallway hasn't shifted in the meantime, or if there's isn't another path."

Being a person of action, I will lead the charge to see if the hallway has changed and poke around for another path. I'll occassionally strike with my sword to test the local vibrations.

As you march back down the hallway, tapping your sword to check the acoustics, you realise you've been making quite a lot of noise, and down here for a little while as well:

Thankfully, nothing happens.
When you reach the left-hand that leads back to where you started, you hear the floor sound quite a lot different. There's a lot of mechanisms under your feet right now, and the metal panels flex quite a bit as well.1d6

"Maybe your crowbar could help, Sir Hurricane? If we can get to the mechanisms, we could try to open new paths."

You can certainly see some edges that a crowbar could get under. How aggressive are you getting with it?

"Well at least the skeleton did something interesting with their life" and I'll go at it with gusto, allowing time for others to back up if they do not want to be involved.

You pop the edge of your crowbar, and give it a right twist. There's a SPROING and the whole floor flips up with considerably more force than you put into it. However, you stepped back in time, thoughts of a clockwork coffin certainly foremost in your mind.
The corner of the corridor clicks a little as it reconfigures. The floor has dropped away briefly, revealing an opening leading straight down, but the roof and parts of the opposite wall curl around to form a new wall blocking your way. It's now a dead end again, but you can easily see where to push it to get it to fold back again.
((This is a very positioning-based puzzle/trap/obstacle. I'll be more lenient than usual, especially since your characters already know the stakes))

Yes, I go towards the smell of rust.

Heading back the way you came, you pass the ladder leading back to CB0 and continue on towards the smell of rust. The floor underfoot is splodged with patches of slime and shallow puddles, and you eventually reach the source: a large body of stagnant water, lapping against the metal banks. There is a "shore" of rotten rusty metal stretching away from the corridor, extending to the north and south. You can see that the northern "shore" is much less passable, it becomes a steep metal cliff quite quickly, with only sharp and crumbly handholds.

Are there any corridors or other paths down the southern shore?
I will stir the water with my walking stick.

The southern shore stretches quite a distance away. This seems to be quite a large lake.
The water makes a gloop noise as you stir it.

Let’s follow the southern shore for now then.

As you follow the shore around, your footsteps cause bits of rusty metal to break away and fall into the water ("water") with various glooping sounds. For Blerble, it's very unpleasant.
The southern shore stretches round more towards the east as you travel, but you don't find much of interest along it. You do however, spy a faint reflection from off towards the centre of this lake. The water is so filthy that it doesn't reflect your torchlight all that much. This is a lot brighter.

I will ask my soot sprites to fly over and check out the glowing then come back and do a charcoal drawing.

As we're waiting on them, I will scoop up some of the water into a bottle. How does it look when held to a torch? Is it full of dirt and sediments, or does it have a colouring of its own?

The "water" is a foul mixture of muddy rust, rusty mud, grimy oil, oily grime, and filth.
The soot sprites drift towards the centre of the lake, staying as far above the scummy fluid as possible. They aren't fast, so it'll round out the rest of your encounter check: mEmUhjR71d61d6

"Aha! I have just the thing!"
Henry XIV will pull out his bottle of Flying Wine and drink it down as quickly as possible. Then he will attempt to fly across the lake to the glimmering at its center.
