Professor: "Sadly my good friend, I'm not capable of accepting gemstones as currency. It is an absolute shame and a complete oversight, especially since they would be useful spell components or basis for ioun stones."
"A broken machine? A sad and sorry waste. No, there isn't much that can be done for my damaged companion, but maybe... no, it's too ghoulish to even consider!"

Only gemstones in all of that treasure huh “well I do have 250 gold coins here if you think that will be enough…”

Good lord. That'll be 11 gold coins for the lot. You're absolutely loaded...
How are you stashing the potions and scrolls? Considering how much sloshing around in oily rivers and jumping around you've been doing, they are delicate bits of equipment.
Yes, only gemstones. Were you expecting a credit card? :P

I was expecting drow currency and weird coins I will stash stuff here. Everything in the shared storage except for the bottle of wizard brain juice and the rusting potion. I am going to use some alchemy in the slaboratory and combine the mapping potion with the wizard brain juice with the last of the ground up greater quetzal worm teeth.

Hmm, I'll have to add more weird coins to the remainder of the Beholder loot! Gems it was though, and gems it shall be.
Mapping Potion + Wizard Brain Juice + Quetzal Worm Teeth = Unstable Greater Mapping Potion.
At the very least, anyone that drinks this will have an unerring sense of where hidden doors are.

I will paint the mapping potion on the treasure map I have for floor +5
Drinking it and or using it to map out mechanisms would be so cool but this is something I really should do to get a leg up on the exit to this dungeon.

The enhanced mapping potion fizzes and sparks as it flows into the treasure map. The paper twitches and squirms as it fills with ink and fluid, sketching out a dizzying array of rooms, chambers, hall, caverns, passageways, secret passes, and most importantly, The Exit. Smack back in the middle of Floor +5, and just one hallway west from a portal archway!
Unfortunately, the portal code isn't listed. You can also see a number of routes leading up from Floor +4 ((which will be determined as needed and on request)) and, prize beyond prizes, some kind of route that goes all the way from +3 to +5! It's on the north-west edge of Floor +3, quite far from the centre.
The treasure map has been stretched and twisted to match the new details pouring out of the potion flask, but it still lines up. The loot is pretty much directly north from The Exit, middling.
The map itself jumps and squirms in your hands. It's a tetchy beast, and you wouldn't want it to get loose. It would probably find a home with the Book Bats, now that you think of it.

88 Silent Storm Finds the Slotful clambers out of the cell he was in. He is a small man, clad in the black robe of the assassin cult called the Silent Suitcases.
He slumps to the floor, holding his aching head, trying to gather his scattered thoughts. "Ahh... Why did I... Oh yes, Slothful!" He gets up, scanning his surroundings. "I am here, for I was sent to slay the target with the codename Slothful. However, I don't remember entering THIS place..." "Oh, I am already starting to regret taking this mission as my first. But I must find Slothful, or die trying." "I better be quick" he thinks, as he walks to the iron table to grab 3 sheets of paper, which he folds and puts in his pocket. He grabs one of the writing utensils and heads north.

The vending machine in the corner pipes up as you go to leave. "Well now private, you're looking armed to the teeth. Good show! Good luck out there, you'll need it uh-huh." Heading north, the corridor splits into three. To the west is a dark, dry chamber with fallen stones everywhere. The granite blocks are bizarrely... scorched? Not by any fire you've seen before though, what looks like straight lines have been burned right through the stone. To the north further is the sound of running water, and the stump of a broken bridge jutting out over a fast flowing canal. The water is very smooth with very little turbulence, but running exceptionally fast. You could safely and comfortably float on your back downstream, but swimming against the current would be nigh impossible. The river is running from the west towards the east. To the east is a chamber made of odd tiles, large and flat, about a metre across each. You can see where some of the tiles have been ripped up and placed back at a slant to reveal some kind of mechanisms underneath. With the tiles as they are though, that mechanism isn't active. That chamber has two more exits, one north, one south. Also, when taking the paper from the table, you spotted a number of useful maps, one is a neat diagram of the chambers near Cell Block Zero, the other is a huge sprawling array of notes stretching up and down multiple floors.

red_kangaroo A note is pinned to the table that stands out from the clutter. It reads: "You have a single boot, which I would like to trade for. I am somewhat of a boot aficionado. I have no coin at the moment, but will trade in services or favors. -Pops"

Pops, Blade, and Porter walk back into the cell block, stretching cramped muscles and doing light yoga. "Hey Sergeant- do you know anything about who runs the tracks or the cameras? Also, how do we get to the drow from here?"

Tracks or cameras: "Damned if I know. Hey Prof! Know who runs the tracks?" The Professor calls back from the other room. "... Unfortunately, I do not. If you do find out, please let me know. I'll happily recompense you for your efforts."
The Drow: Checking the maps, you can see that the main entrance to the Drow Hive is at the base of the Abyss that the minecarts cross. It looks like there are a few ways down into that area, but it seems a little finicky. Perhaps one of your other allies know an easier route? ((Hint: Bother Phykalla about it))
Food: "Listen here sonny, good chow is hard to come by around these parts. I can order you in some military rations, but it'll cost ya, and you'll have to pay up front. Grow? Any farmland is pretty sought after, and fought over. Naturally, in any combat with a fleshy foe, to the victor go the spoils. Mebbe you can kill and eat something?"

Well, that looks like an offer of payment. We're gonna head out again to investigate the rail tracks, taking the minecart and doing our best to make it back to the junction with the locked carts.

Nice to be back in cell block zero, always so much to do.
Greetings to the three vending machines.
I will take the glass mask with tubes from my imprisonment and turn it into a gas mask by stuffing the tubes with alternating layers of white sand and white handkerchiefs to form filters.
Then I will rummage through the now open luggage after giving it a hard scratch of course to see if anything is left in it.
And I think I have some occultum tin wire and ticky things lying around to make a couple of autowinders with
Also hoping to cut up that broken leather collar into strips and fashion some slings for hurling stones.

Vending machines: All say hello back. "Gah," says the Sarge. "You wouldn't have ordered anything recently? I've got a buncha packages here for someone, but I 'unno who for."
Gas mask: Created. It's fragile, but it should work against mundane gasses and poisons.
Luggage: Seems a little frightened of you, but much more amenable once you've given it scratches. Sadly, it's empty. I wonder where all that stuff went once Jax threw it out? Flowed into the lake-in-the-box?
Autowinders: You've got a few successfully created ticky things, already containing the occult-tin springs. Are you trying to feed the extra wire back inside the ticky-thing? That sounds... dangerous.
Leather collar: Slings crafted.

“Hmmmmm welll I suppose I could take a look if you want Sargent but I didn’t order anything.” How’s the professor coming on the information for which blerble paid? Crafting stuff sounds good, yes sadly all that stuff went in the lake in the box (in spite of precautions ) So ticky things have the external axle that rotates (unclear if it always is rotating or you press a button to have it wind down) if I take big loops of wire and rig them to connect with a good pull then they would be a big loop that I could wrap around something in the heat of battle give a yank and it would start winding up rapidly slicing something in half when the wire got tight enough and or having too much wire get inside which would create a clockwork explosion. I believe I have enough supplies to make three of them. Two of which I will give to blerble. Phykalla will take one sling and put the rest in the take one leave one pile, the legacy of andsaca. Gonna start rifling through the minecarts west of here clearing up the debris and recycling using my drow/dwarf/drone toolbox and my dungeon mechanic skills. Goal is to set up a better train station and gain supplies. Speaking of, I have a skill that lets me find answers to questions of how mundane things work in the dungeon to figure out how the tracks and carts run.

"Professor, I don't mena to be pushy but I seem to recall you offering payment for the knowledge of the minecarts' operators- do I recall that correctly? We'll be exploring +5 soon so I'm looking to stock up on anything useful while I can. Porter, tell the good vending machine what you learned and who you met."
Pops also takes a look at the take-one-leave-one pile. Anything interesting looking?

"Hmm. It's 'aight there Phykalla. I'm sure whoever its for will show up eventually."
The Professor frowns when you bring it up. You aren't quite sure how a vending machine frowns, but it's definitely happening. "Nothing. Silence. Even my best... no, I won't bore you with the details. Suffice to say, it has been suspiciously hard going. If the good worm wishes for his payment to be reimbursed, I shan't hold it against him.
Ticky-scythe: All three crafted. And what a brutal weapon that is! There is a rudimentary gearbox in each ticky-thing that controls whether it is active or not, easy enough to mess around with.
Slings: Stashed.
You spend some time tidying up the shattered pile of minecarts. Wheels in one pile, usable scrap metal in the other, sweep up the dust and cobwebs. There is a lot of metal and parts here. While you're checking out he tracks, you figure out the source: special cables that run under and through the tracks that latch onto the carts, sling-shotting them on their way. The cables must be pulled by something, somewhere, and you feel a sensation move through your mind - down. Down is where the secrets of the carts can be discovered.
---
Porter looks at you sideways slightly. "Umm. Well. I'm sure the kobolds definitely know the most about the minecarts. And they, uh, certainly run the tracks now. But I'm, well, not so sure, that they, exactly, made them?" The Professor turns to Porter. "Well. Thank you for telling me that, young Porter. You have a good heart." Porter looks incredibly relieved, though he has a slightly guilty hunch as he looks towards you. "Sorry boss. I just didn't think it'd be right, lying 'n all." "You have lead your followers well, Pops." says the vending machine. "What is it you wish to know? Secrets of magic? Arts of war? Dangers of the Upper Floors? I must warn you, the far reaches of the dungeon are a mysterious place. I only have the slightest of rumours that could be of any use to you."

I will catch a minecart ride to a kobold station to let them know the station by the cell block is up and running and ask them for lists of their stations. After that I want to head to flights of fancy on floor -3 which is kind of a dangerous trek but needs must.
Unless something comes up with kobold empress and the minecarts I will travel to flights of fancy by heading to minecart station b, east to goblin smelling room south to portal 243 then dial 753 to get to the portal on floor -4 east through the crack in the wall then north to rope area which I will climb to floor -3 west past the giant hole in the floor and that should lead me to flights of fancy and the prison cell. "It's okay Porter, honesty with allies is a good policy to maintain, and it was a misunderstanding on my part. Your disobedience is easily excused in this situation. Professor, if you have something that could make me more persuasive or convincing, I wish to mostly avoid combat on floor +5 if possible as it would be very dangerous, as I understand it. Anything that would let me lie or convince more effectively could be used to circumvent violent outcomes. I also have this Subtle Violin, which renders the musician invisible while it plays- I could submit it to your gentle inspection, if it would be of interest to learn about, on the condition it is returned unharmed."

Porter seems incredibly relieved. The Professor thinks for a while. "It truly depends on what you face up there. For living creatures in any sort of society, gifts of good clean food will immediately net you friends. Hunger is the great leveller down here, no doubt about that at all. However, if you wish, I should be able to order a Scroll of Glibness. I can have it arrive very quickly indeed, but must receive commensurate payment."
When you reveal the Subtle Violin, the Prof sighs in wonder. "What an exquisite specimen this is! Tell you what... if you should leave this with me while you adventure on the Upper Floors, I will accept that as payment for a Scroll of Glibness, and keep it safe until you return. How goes it?"
---
Phykalla: You wave at the kobolds as you trundle across the tracks, and they quickly swap you over to their station. "Evening m'lady!" They explain that they will hook up a piece of magical clockwork to the lever near Cell Block Zero, to allow the passenger to choose where they will arrive. "Doess that meet your approval?" They only have access to this one track at the moment, but are investigating a hidden track that connects nearby. "One of your lot found it, Popss and his Porter. I reckon it's a maintenance track, where the weird cartss come from if you mess with the tracks. We've gone and cut a buncha wires to stop that, but it's still... ya know. A bit odd."
((You can decide and make a thread: Are you going to talk to the kobold engineers more, or head to Flights of Fancy?))
