The Scroll of Glibness slides out of the slot. "While you are talking to someone, take a look at the scroll. It'll have written on it what they most want to hear."
((No worries at all! Now you can decide, the kobold scouts will come to here via tracks in a little while, you can explore a bit, or just wait and chat with your followers))

"Is the scroll only one use, or does the writing appear each time I discuss something? I don't want to use it up accidentally."
While waiting, can I head south to the waterfall, climb up to the take one enhance one machine, and do some experimentation?

"It will work for three large sentences, and it only is used up while you are looking at it intentionally."
Sure, that's a safe enough route (for now, at least). What do you want to experiment with?

Collecting many pebbles and refining them in a pyramidal sequence. 2 pebbles makes one pebble+1, two pebbles+1 makes a pebble+2, etc. Stop me when the kobolds notify me, I run out of pebbles from the riverbank, or something dangerous or interesting happens.

((Whoops... I've just checked the map and my notes, it turns out there isn't actually an easy way up to the machine. The last person who went there (without using a certain magic boat) had to climb up a waterfall while in the water. My mistake!))

You won't delay the advent of the god-pebble that easily.
Very well then, is there enough wood to construct barrel-boats and is the river tame towards that waterfall as well as I can ascertain by rumor? Otherwise, how difficult a climb would you estimate it? For me and for Blade?

Heh, I'm excited to see it happen as well.
Looking at the scribbled maps, the waterfall is pouring right down, exactly filling the space. It would be like trying to climb up through a broken damn. Extremely difficult. ((Critical success with a large STR bonus last time)).

How dangerous is the flow of the river? Possible to drift down? Any wooden barrels or other debris? What are the rumors about a ghost ship I seem to recall?

The river is quite fast but has very little turbulence. You could float on your back just fine, but swimming upstream is nearly impossible. There are some salvaged barrels nearby as well.
And just that: rumours. But a lot of them.

If I'm correct, heading north from CB0, that river is upstream of where I'd like to go. If I'm correct, I'll leave porter in CB0 (because he has low hp and well have to go down the waterfall in a barrel) and go initiate the Pebble Rapture. When we're done well take the barrels down the waterfall and take some damage presumeably.

I have suddenly realised the cause of the confusion: when you headed south to the waterfall, you were at the bottom of the waterfall, not the top. Hence trying the climbing difficulty. The river flows away from the waterfall, twists and turns, and eventually goes past the north of CB0, away from where you are trying to go.

Oooooooooooh. I c. Hm this is more of a problem then. Then as a long-term project, how unreasonable would it be to begin kicking a staircase into the rock near the waterfall? It fills the whole space ? Is there a way to kick some basic steps into the stone of the walls ten feet from the waterfall and then some handholds and footholds along towards upper shore? Would have to start from the floor and kick footholds only, as cant reach hands with feet- any chains/spikes/gloves I could use to help grip?
Are there rumors of such things or digging equipment in the machine room to the south?

That would be a serious mining operation, definitely possible, but it would take a long time and probably require real equipment. That kind of misuse could damage your boots.
The machine room to the south is more like a precision factory than that sort of rugged equipment you'd need, but it might be repurposed in such a way. Phykalla has a mech you could possibly use to that purpose.

Ready to depart either to +5 or the machine shop then, if that needs another thread, and will leave word with the vendors that I'm looking for any leads on something to sail downstream on to go find phykalla.

The kobold scout team will show up whenever you say "I wait for the kobolds to arrive". Do you want to mess around with the machines for a while, or head off on your Big Quest?

Yes you do, some time spent resting in any situation is enough to get all HP back.

Isn't there a table of items that we can take? If it exists, could you direct me there?

Bogg will take the Scroll of Bone Rage and replace it with his copper ball that always rolls uphill. He then heads back down to Floor -1, listening to see if the creatures are still down there. He also collects bugs for the rat brothers.
