The whole back of the painting is engraved with an incredibly complex swirling glyph that twinkles in your eyes even after you close them. It brings to mind dancing tables, swords floating in the air, works of art comprised of impossibly swirling colours and sounds, stolen dreams and apples poisoned with eternal sleep.
"There is blood in this room because someone died in it."

"Oh my, and you were forced to watch such a gruesome scene? Who died here? Any why? I've heard that it becomes easier for you if you talk about your troubled memories."
I show the glyph to the others.

How many of you have backgrounds in magic, or any experience with it?
"Nobody of importance. And they died because they were disrespectful. Oh, oh no, it didn't trouble me at all. I'd do it again if the need arose."

Sandra would have no magical background, beside a poor education in herbalism that was probably totally mundane.

I don't think I have any magical background either.
Anyway, upon receiving that lavish introduction from Jaxudyzad, Henry XIV will give a respectful bow to the painting. "A pleasure, to meet one of such beauty in a place such as this. May I be apprised of your own name and title, Lady...?"
Getting the painting back to CB0 might be a challenge. Possibly I could use my Gravity Ring to walk across the ceiling and avoid triggering the goo trap. Another option would be to build a raft, tie it to a rope and haul it up the river. Both of those options seem risky, so I'm open to other ideas.

"Lady will do just fine, thank you." the painting says primly.
It would definitely be a challenge. Who is up for it, is the question??

Do we have anything to build a raft from? There are the barrels of fungi, we could probably empty some of them and tie them together, but that would be pretty harsh for me and Sandra as far as spore inhalation goes.
We could also jump into the river and hope the painting is waterproof?

Why not ask Lady herself? See what her opinion is on the matter?

To his companions, Henry XIV says: "I was thinking of making a raft out of the mine carts. But that, of course, would require us to return at a later time."
To the painting: "Of course, my Lady, we would not move you without your express consent. Forgive my ignorance, but would I be right to assume that you are not, ah, waterproof?"

"If you think to sail me down the river like some common plank of wood, I would kill every single one of you. But of course, you aren't that foolish, are you? If I must endure it to get out of this wretched place, a few drops of water would not harm me."

(That's a shame, she would make a great raft. ) I will bring the Lady back to the river stairs, then. Will we try to get back to Cell Block Zero, or do we sail down the river? In case I need another save vs fungi: yOSLziEJ1d20+21d20+2

((She would make an amazing raft. Down down down we go...)) It's a very good thing you didn't need to make that extra save!

While Jaxudyzad is porting the painting, I will check the painting room and the fungus room carefully for any sign of secret or hidden doors. I would really like to find another way back instead of running through that poisonous orange fog again.

You're filthy and dirty by the time you finish digging through all the barrels of mould and fungus, to no avail. However, you do spy a weird little tunnel inside the half-collapsed door. It leads west, but it's cramped and jagged and will take a DEX check to get through safely and without dropping any gear.
What do you do?

I carefully set the Lady down at the riverbank and prop her against the wall. "I'm sorry, milady, but I need to take my leave for a little while to prepare our way over the river. I will be right back." I will tie a kerchief over my face, then go to the fungus room and take a barrel to the riverbank, dump its contents to the water and return for a few barrels more. If 7Q45QBH0, "Sandra" is willing, I will borrow Sandra's string and tie the barrels together to form a crude raft. Maybe garmr could walk on the ceiling with my chain attached to the raft and haul it upstream?
(EDIT: I wrote that without noticing what Spwack said above, but at least Jaxudyzad had something to do while Henry searched. @spwack, we wouldn't be able to get Lady through that opening, would we?)

Crude raft complete! Lady would not be able to fit through that gap, no.

I load the Lady on the raft and go back to check on the others.
I'm not sure if Henry would be able to haul all of us on the raft, and I would rather not take the crawlway, as my Dex is quite bad. I guess if we're going back to Cell Block Zero, I will brave the orange gas traps once more.

All of you on a raft would be incredibly tough and require several hard Strength checks. Just the one of you, against the river, on a barrel raft? Perhaps... it depends on what you want to risk.

"Why don't we investigate this hidden passage first? Perhaps we will find something that will help us cross the river. I'm sure the Lady won't mind a few minutes watching the river after being cooped up in that stuffy room for so long."

((Whatever suits the lot of you! You are in a safe-ish area at the moment. Normally I would take this (minor) faffing around as an excuse to roll an encounter check, but I won't. So, consider this a reminder, it's best to just try things and see what happens!))

Ouch! As you carefully work your way through, you tap a stone with your elbow and feel a sudden sharp pain in your back as part of the tunnel ceiling collapses on you! Take 1d6 damage, you’re pinned, and you think you can see something moving in the dimness at the end of this tunnel...

I'm down to zero then. Can I still reach my items? If so, I'll pull out my Blasphemous Grenade and prepare to throw it if anything threatening approaches down the tunnel.

"Damnation!"
I will try to crawl a little bit inside, just to reach Henry's feet and bind my chain to them, then double back until I can stand and haul him out.

With a kick of a stone, a quick shuffle, and a hefty pull, everyone is safely out of the tunnel, if a little dusty. There's a brief clanking sound from deep within, but nothing comes out of the crawl-space after you.
What next?
