I'd like to wait until my HP recovers. While I'm sitting by the bank I will take a look around.
Where did the metal spider escape to? Is there a path down the river or did it just crawl along the wall?
How fast is the river and how deep? And which way does it flow?

(( 7Q45QBH0, "Sandra" no worries at all)) The lot of you catch your breath, get the gunk out of your eyes and off your skin, and watch the river go by. The metal spider scuttled along the roof, there isn't anything like a path on either side of the bank, just sheer smooth stone. The river is fast but very smooth, you could easily just lie back and float down with very little risk to yourself, but swimming back upstream would be almost impossible. For reference, the encounter roll is: 1. Encounter 2. Traces 3-4. Nothing 5. Burn half a torch 6. Burn half a torch 6m3HCqsD1-61-6

So for those of you that aren't Majorly Poisoned, you can just heal right back up to full HP. What next?

Without crossing the slabs again, we can either go south, or swim down the river, right?
I'll go peek south first, then return to the others to see where they would prefer to go.

Does the river flow east or west? If it flows west then we should be able to float down to the pier and then walk back to Cell Block Zero. That might be safer than crossing the tiles again.
But for now, I suggest venturing southward and we'll see what we find.
((Full disclosure, I have vague memories of this area from the previous version of this dungeon. But I'm enjoying exploring it anew.))

(Yeah, I think it goes west.)

Sandra would support peeking south, although heading down the river is a definite goal at the moment. She will follow Jaxudyzad on his scouting south.

Unfortunately the river does flow east, not west, so if you swim downriver it will lead you further away from Cell Block Zero not closer. Heading south, carefully skirting the stone slabs, you arrive at a large stone door that seems to have been seriously (and violently) dismantled. From further beyond half-collapsed construction, you can smell a combination of harsh chemicals with undertones of fungal rot.
What do you do?

((In general this dungeon is going to match the "previous" one, unless of course I make a mistake edit it slightly to keep it fresh))

I head west, into the stalagmites/tites. I fear no geological feature!

nickEach step you take leads you deeper into a large cave. You can hear the sound of dripping beyond your torch-light, and the flame plays over weird marks in the stone, cuts in the rock that seem smooth, yet random at the same time. Large blocks of stone seem to have collapsed everywhere, some of them torn apart by similar looking slashes. Far ahead, you can see a glowing green light seeping out of a pile of oddly shaped rubble. The sense of ill ease grows stronger... What do you do?

"Come, my loyal companions," says Henry XIV, gesturing to Sandra and Jaxudyzad. "Let us explore this pungent room to the south. I will go first, as your fleshy bodies may be more susceptible to whatever fungal dangers lie within."

Heading past the swinging stone door, there's a bit of a clatter as shards of rock drop down. The previous room is full of smashed barrels full of brown fungus. Spores still float around in the air, and anyone going in that isn't porcelain-oid will need to make a 1d20+STR roll or... something will happen. It looks like a path has been roughly cleared through the mound of gunk, leading to door on the east wall.

I stop in my tracks. Without moving closer, I want to see why the rubble is oddly-shaped.

"You Majesty, would you mind scouting ahead? I don't fancy risking these spore clouds if there is just an empty room to be found beyond."

((Presuming that he does))
Beyond the door lies another room, less-filled with spores but still a little fungal. On the far wall is a painting of a dwarven women, a startlingly lifelike painting, with eyes that seem to follow you around the room. The far wall is also marred by a splash of brownish-looking blood, extending all the way up the wall, but not actually on to the painting.
Odd.
What do you do?

I assume the above is not good. Sandra's intention had been to examine the brownish stain, maybe tasting it to see if it was blood, or something else identifiable.

(That might be enough?)
I examine the painting for anything interesting (Is there any text or names on the painting? Does the painting have an unusually bulky frame?), then look behind the painting for a safe or secret door.

As the meat-people pass through the fungus room, I'll stand ready to assist them if the spores have some kind of adverse effect.
Assuming they get through OK, I will stand well back as they examine the painting. That smear of blood looks pretty ominous to me.
Also, does anyone have an empty airtight container? If so, I might try to scoop up some of the fungus for future use.

7Q45QBH0, "Sandra"You're coughing and coughing and coughing but you just can't seem to get whatever is in your throat out. Eventually you hoik up a lump of brownish phlegm... but it still just doesn't feel right. The only text on the canvas is a tiny scrawl of a signature in the lower right-hand corner, but that is completely unreadable. The frame isn't particularly bulky or ornate, just flawless varnished wood. The blood smear goes all the way to exactly adjacent to the frame, and then just stops dead, and now that you are looking closely, you can see there is the other "end" of the blood spray starting again on the far side of the painting. It's definitely blood, and definitely old. red_kangarooAs you go to touch the painting, you feel an incredibly painful buzzing in your fingers, and hear a voice in your head: "Incredibly impolite of you, hmm, to touch a lady without her asking? Well, what do you have to say for yourself? Speak up!"

@spwack "My apologies, milady. I must have been striken dumbfounded on seeing you in such a macabre place. It is a rare thing, indeed, to find true grace and beauty in these accursed halls. Forgive me for saying so, but you deserve a better abode. If you were so inclinded, would you perchance accept our humble help in relocating you to chambers more appropriate to your stature? Would you know of any corner of this great dungeon where your elegance would be more at home than here?"

"Oh, away, away, out of here!" the buzzing in your hand stops, and you feel a lessening of the pressure in your head. "This place is a warren of misery and sin, but anywhere away from this filth!"

"As you command, milady. May I have your permission to take you off the wall?"
(How big and heavy is the painting? Will we be able to move it?)
"Ah, but how could have I forget! My lady, may I have the great honour of presenting to you His Most Lustrous Resplendence, the First Among No Equals, the Celestial Master of Ten Thousand Sunrises, the Lord Destroyer of the Butterfly Fields, the Descending Lance of Utter Ruin and the Royal Wielder of the Splendid And Gentle Face of Pearlescence, Henry XIV, the Porcelain King of Caoilainn," I gesture towards Henry.

At this point I'll make reference to the rule for Bulky Objects: You can carry one bulky object at a time, if you carry anything more than that, you drop to 0hp. The painting is bulky, not because of it's weight, but because of it's size and relative fragility. garmr thoughts on your title, anything need to be added?? "Charmed, I'm sure." says the painting, and not a whole lot else... How are you planning on getting back home? I strongly doubt the painting would enjoy getting sprayed with the goop.

(That's a good question that I don't have an answer for yet. I wonder how is the painting waterproof...)
I carefully remove the painting from the wall. Is there anything behind it?
"Mind if I ask, milady, why all the blood in this room?"
