As you tap around the room with your cane, you get the faintest, suspicion that some of the floor might be hollow. Perhaps more on the... east side?

"Ah-hah! I think there might be a hollow here below the floor. Maybe we can disable the wall of fire and move further, once you are done with your inscribing, Your Majesty? Do we have anything to dig with?
Sir Hurricane, could I borrow your crowbar? We can try and pry this block of stone free."

"My enscribing is not yet finished." There is a slightly fevered look in his eyes. "I will have the power of the Swan Bat in my right hand..."
He pushes more gold into the flames and, while it's melting, begins to transfer the Swan Bat spell onto his right hand.

Meanwhile, I will try to pry the floor open.

The gold melts, the scroll twists it's way into porcelain flesh, and the power of Swan Bat merges with King Henry!
d6 damage: pLmx3Qpf1d6
That drops you to exactly 0 HP, so you suffer a lasting scar, and reroll your max HP with a d6. Your hand and arms are marked and marred with magic, painting you as another porcelain royal who traded the sanctity of their visage for nothing but base power. But we already knew that!
Now, the Swan Bat spell is a little more complicated. I'm thinking that you have chaotic and pseudo-animalistic engravings up and down your right arm, especially your hand. When you invoke that power, you have a 50% chance of gaining an aspect of the Swan, and a 50% chance of gaining an aspect of the Bat. What that means is to be discovered...
Jax: You chop and pry at the floor, sending chips of stone flying, but it's solid rock between you and whatever that hollow space is. You'd need some serious mining equipment to crack through it, or perhaps a sprinkle of magic.1d6

Hm, I will take out my ice orb and blast the wall of fire.
If that doesn't do anything useful, I will try blasting the floor directly next to the flames, trying to crack it by the temperature difference.

"Ah, yes," says Henry, looking at the engravings on his right hand. "This proves I am destined to regain the throne. The swan is the symbol of monarchy in Caoilainn. And the bat is, er... the bat is very good too."
New HP:
YVRDDRUk1-6
Henry rubs his raw wounds and turns to Jaxudyzad. "Didn't we see some disused mining equipment downstairs on our way to find the psi-crown? Perhaps that could help break through this wall."
Spwack How much gold have I expended in scribing these two spells? 1-6

"I second the idea of reusing that mining equipment, though getting it down here might prove to be difficult to say the least, it was quite a hike!" I am still down for getting it though, seems like the most logical choice

((I'm not sure, how much have you got? I figure the more you are willing to use, the less messy the scarring will be in the future))
The equipment you saw looked more like a mining elevator, rather than drills or anything like that. Perhaps you could ask around CB0 and see if there is anyone that knows a way through?

I'll say I've expended 2gp total, one per arm?
And I'll propose to the group that we return to CB0 and discuss what to do next.

"Before we return, I had one last stray thought. The mechanical beast that is attuned to this place - my anger towards it does indeed foment, but a thought occurred: Might it not interact with this place in some way? Perhaps its internals will grant us insights and a chance to interact with that which holds us here."

Okay, let's go back to the ravine room and see where the spiders have gone to.

Jax: Earlier you mentioned wanting to blast the stone with your ice orb ((I completely missed that)) do you want to try that before you go?
It's been quite some time since you last saw the mechanical creatures. Heading back into the ravine cavern, you can see the switch-backed path of bridges extending out into the darkness. Are you going to chase them down?

I am still at 0hp after my self-surgery so I would like to rest before chasing down any robots.
I am happy to help out in the fight but not sure if my new abilities will be effective against a robot. I also need to collect some flesh to power my flesh to steam hand. Does anyone remember passing any corpses, meat, stuff like that, on our travels?
@spwack: in the gore-soaked room with the animated axe, was there any meat lying around or was it just blood?

Henry: You could scrape up some of the dried goop, but you aren't sure how that would go down with your new arm. Maybe it would be better to try fresh meat first?
Jax: The ice orb numbs your fingers, and a blast of greyish mist flies towards the wall of flame. Both collide with a muffled whoomph and dirty steam sprays everywhere. Trying again on the stone near the wall of flame causes the stone to shriek and twist. Chips of rock are blasted away, and the stone cracks a bit, causing the fire wall to spread further towards you!
This seems a little dangerous, do you want to continue?

Nope! This seems to do the exact opposite of what I intended.
We can let Henry rest, then go along the new bridge and see where the spiders went.

I will look in somewhat amusement but you can see a weary look behind my eyes "Looks like you only made it madder! Perhaps the spiders we will have better luck with." Agreed on recuperating and then going after the spiders.

"Hrm, Sir Hurricane... you made friends with some goblins not long ago. Do you know where they live in this maze? Perhaps if I could find their village I could buy meat for my mutant hand. Erm, and you flesh-folk could eat some of it too, I'm sure."

Jax: The stone is definitely being cracked and broken by this process, it's just causing the fire to spread out of a new path of least resistance.
Henry: Herald the goblin looks up at you. "Meat? Meat is hard. Goblins is hungry. Herald is looking for meat for goblins as well. Is old old tale, mad drug wizard turns stone walls to weird magic meat. Meat!"

"I did try to provide meat to the goblins initially, from the frogs in the room adjacent to the cell block. I assume much still remains there to be harvested."

"Mad drug wizard you say? Does the tale tell where such a character might be found?"
If Jaxudyzad wants to keep messing with the fire and the ice orb, I'll stand by. Perhaps if a lot of the stone is cracked, the fire could become diffuse enough to jump through?
Otherwise I propose we retrace our steps and try to find those robots.

Back south, along the bridges made by the machines, is a much easier path than the route you took to get to the wall of flame. Reaching the Y-junction, you can hear faint clicking and beeping sounds coming from directly south, the room with the conveyer belt and strange icy machines. What's your plan?

I have a 'frognade' that releases exponentially multiplying frogs. I could probably take out the big machine if I can dump that inside it. Aside from that I'm not sure what weapons I have against robots other than my trusty hammer. I might also activate my Swan Bat aspect just to see what happens.
I'll confer with the others about what tactics they plan to use, and when they're ready, advance cautiously into the conveyor belt room.

That seems like a reasonable plan to me. What is the power of these things from your experience? I have a potion of iron skin that I could take in advance to protect myself. Assuming its not too terrible, I'll just go in swords swinging to distract while you get up close.

I haven't fought these machines yet, but I will assume that throwing enough javelins at them will work. I could also try my spirit urn. I will move closer to the machine room, a javelin at the ready.

Peering into the room, you see the four robots at the far end. The large blocky one is shining a lantern on the the other three, who are scuttling up and in and around a machine on the roof, that has been opened up. There isn't really a way to hide properly, so if you run up to them they'll see you coming, that's for sure.
