Okay, so one dose of alchemical wine mixed with two bottles of oil (one from me, one from Hurricane). I use the bottles to make two lines of flammables towards the north as far as I can see and once that is finished, set a torch to the lines and run!

The oily mixture dribbles out across the vines on the floor, which twitch and squirm from the noxious fluid. The torch touches down, and the streams come alight! The plants spasm even more, and flames lick across the room! Smoke and cinders flare up as you charge down the corridor of flame, and you all take 1 damage from running directly into the heat, but you're out the other side. The room is roughly triangular, and has an exit to the north that you can see, and you all run towards it as quick as you can.
And of course, it's at this point we would have an encounter check: 32NQDEcU1d6
All is well. You're at the border between the gritty earth of this chamber and the rough slabs of the dungeon-proper. Do you want to rest here and catch your breath (another encounter check) or press on further north?1d6

"Let's press forward! That has my blood pumping and now is the time for action!" And I'll plow ahead to the dungeon.

I follow Hurricane.
"We should be quite close now. There should be a 'nexus of small rooms' with the crown secreted somewhere in there."

If it matters, I have both swords drawn as I walk in, eyes peering into each corner with a confident stare.

Heading forwards away from the burning plants, you take a step up from the earthen floor and back into the stone walls you’re more familiar with. You peer into a small square room, with simple stone doors to the west and north. The middle of the room is empty, but the central square of the ceiling is a mirror, built directly into the stone.
What do you do? There’s plenty of room to move around the mirror.

"It should be in this room should it not? There might be additional clues in the adjoining rooms but I feel this mirror may be the key to your crown. I must admit, I fear approach it. I have a strange feeling to it. Could you try moving it with your mind? Perhaps reaching out to it with psychic energy is the key."

"It should be somewhere around here, the Professor wasn't sure of its exact location. And yes, the mirror seems very strange to me, too."
I will try a weak psychic push at the mirror and if nothing happens, I will pick up a small rock and lightly tap the mirror, all the while avoding looking into it directly.
If still nothing happens, I will walk around the mirror and try the northern door.

While he is mucking about with the mirror, I will try to look to see if there is any movement by looking at the rough finish on my weapon rather than looking directly at the mirror.

Nothing happens with a weak psychic prod. When you tap the mirror with the stone, it ripples gently. Looking at it in the shine of your weapon, you really can't see much, just a fuzzy smudge. Then, the fuzzy smudge moves away, and you can't see it any more.
What do you do? The northern door slides away easily enough.

Hmm, interesting.
I will continue into the northern door.

The north door slides away, revealing a short and slightly cramped corridor. It twists left then right again, before ending at another stone door, very similar to the other. It slides aside just as easily, revealing a similarly-sized room. In the centre of the room, piled up haphazardly, are hundreds of fist-sized wooden blocks, in the shape of four pointed pyramids. There's a rustle and rattle coming from the somewhere in the pile.
This room has exits to the north and east.

"A rippling? I fear your prize lies behind that mirror my friend. If you fear entering, I will dive within on your behalf."

I will call out a greeting to whatever creature may lurk in the pile. If there is no answer, I will prod the pile with my extendable mirror pole.

"You might very well be right, good Sir Hurricane, but I would never ask of you that you go into the mirror first. The Professor couldn't say for what lies in these rooms, so I would rather err on the side of cation and see if there are no threats lurking to ambush us from behind before we dive into the rippling mirror."
I will wait to see what happens with Henry prodding the pile.

The rustling and rattling stops. Then starts up again much more fiercely when you proud the pile. One of the wooden pyramids clatters and bounces down the slope, landing near your feet. It flips over twice, before cracking open with a puff of sawdust. You can't quite tell what manner of creature this is, but it has three-ish limbs, and scuttles between your legs, heading towards the door. Another little wooden pyramid pops open as well, into the same sort of creature (if that is even the right term for it).

Towards which door? Back to the mirror room?
I will follow the creature(s).

Besides the limbs, does it have a head or mouth or eyes? Or is it just limbs? Do the limbs appear to be flesh? I will follow behind as well, swords drawn, trying to look imposing.

Back to the mirror room. The creatures look like they might have little black beady eyes, but they are moving pretty quickly. They are made fully out of wood, or at least, they appear to be. The few that have popped up scuttle along the stone floor, and make their way at about walking speed to the mirror room. There, they stop, just at the border of where the mirror would be if it was on the floor.

"Hello there? Are you aware? Can you hear me?"
If there is no response, I will use my cane to push one of the creatures under the mirror.

When you nudge the creature, it flips over and starts scampering up your cane! The others don't seem to pay any attention to you, but you're sure they can all see you. Hear? Maybe not.

The creature is flicked off your cane and tumbles through the air. It lands directly under the mirror. It sits there, turning around on the spot with careful taps of it's legs, one at a time. It takes a slow, hesitant step towards the edge... and then another... and then another. It seems to be very slowly working it's way back towards the other three critters, which are scampering back and forth along the border.

Using my sword, it'd like to hem in the creature to stay under the mirror.

It bonks off your sword and skitters back under the mirror. It moves around for a few moments more, then steps... sideways? No, not sideways. Neither left or right, forward or back, up or down, but sideways, and disappears. The remaining wooden scuttlers stop, turn around, and head back to the rest of the pile.

The west door slides open, and after taking a right-hand turn, and you find yourself in yet another square chamber. The Professor wasn't wrong when they said that this place was a twisty nexus! This one is a little... odd? The stone floor and walls on the east side, where you are standing, is flat and relatively smooth, but it seems to twist, ripple and bubble up as it goes across. The far west wall is a morass of square lumps, piled up over and across into a mess of stone boxes.

A torch flickers. There is a stone door to the north.1d6
