Spwack I go south from CB0 to the Seymour's swamp, then south-west to the large hall with the machines and directly south where there should be a bridge over a deep chasm. Then I cross the bridge and continue further, looking for a chain lift.

Through the muddy swamp, past the rows of mysterious levers, over the absolutely awful bridge, how in the seven hells did they get a stone bridge to twist and shiver like this? And into a rough and ragged cave. There are tunnels leading out of it in nearly every direction, the only odd-one-out is a charred hole in the ground to the north-east. Which way?
And are you waiting for others to come with you?

Henry XIV calls from across the chasm: "Hold a minute, Jaxudyzad! I will join you on your quest. It would not be right to let you venture out alone."
Once he has crossed the bridge, Henry looks around. "You are looking for the chain lift, eh? It's just through here." He points down the south-east corridor. "Where exactly is this psionic crown you seek? I have explored this region of the dungeon before, so perhaps I can be of assistance."

red_kangaroo, I'd very much like to join you if that's alright!
"You seem like an inquisitive and valorous fellow. I cannot explain it, but I feel a kinship with you and I wish to help you gain mastery over this new found power and then perhaps we can continue on to escaping this place."

((What happened to the eighth and ninth circle of Hell in this world? I'm head-canoning it as an alien invasion that lead to a protracted war between the technically advanced aliens and magically gifted infernals.
At first, the aliens managed to seize two layers of Hell with a combination of surprise blitzkrieg and sci-fi tech, but once the infernals recovered from the initial massacre (It seemes so fun to open a portal to another dimension and slaughter the people there, until someone does it to your won dimension.) they pushed back and the whole thing got stuck in a form of trench war (or rather portal war).
There are, however, rumours that the infernals are experimenting with the pieces of tech they managed to capture, going as far as implanting several demons with cybernetic enhancements and rocket launchers.))
I wait until we're all together and then south-east we go!

Jaxudyzad certainly has a vivid imagination!
To the south-east you see the rattling clanking chain mechanism, rotating up and rotating down, with the ledges for easy hand- and foot-holds. It takes you down, far down, the narrow vertical tunnel opening up into a large ragged chamber, your torchlight glints off a tremendous pile of scrap metal piled up on the south-west end. There are exits to the north-west, north-east, and south-east.
Presuming you head north-east, the short hallway opens into a large hexagonal chamber of roughly-worked stone. There are large ledges running in concentric hexagons towards the middle, where some kind of damaged mining equipment sits, perhaps? It's hard to tell (and I'm also presuming you don't investigate too closely, unless of course you would like to!).
There are exits to the north, north-east and south-east, large tunnels running directly off of the top-most hexagon level.

I wouold like to investigate the pile of metal, then continue north-east.
Does it seem like broken weapons? Minecarts? Just non-descript pieces of rusty iron?
Anything that would glint deep in the pile?

I will also investigate the scrap metal. I'm looking in particular for any small scraps that come to a thin, needle-like point, and also anything that might serve as a crucible.

This is perhaps presumptuous but could I find Squire among the heaped scraps? Just see his axe sticking out and find him buried under loads of scraps? If Jaxudyzad shares these thoughts, Hurricane would express his belief that those so called "aliens" were just the forces of GOD below, the true god. His angels just look foreign to us. Among those scraps of miscellanious papers I made two suggestions, did either of them seem appealing by the way Spwack? Posting here in case you missed it (a lot was going on): (well, I was going to post it here but my post is now gone from CB0 my suggestions were information on the painted lady or "The Art of 3D Origami" as a way to address storing things compactly) If I do not see Squire, I will just oversee the two of them's rear as the investigate, keeping a wide eye.

Broken weapons, shattered mine-carts, abandoned industrial equipment, warped girders, bent struts, torn sheet metal, absolutely wrecked armour. All of it heavily rusted. Not a glint to be seen, but you could try crawl into that mess if you wanted?
You've got the time to search, and you'll find what you're looking for eventually even if you have to break some bits off and apart.
It would be a little too presumptuous, yes ((don't worry, Squire is on the random encounter list now, he'll turn up one way or another)).
I feel like 3D origamagic would be just that, magical, but that is certainly going on the loot list. Information about the Painted Lady hmm? I like that idea a lot, but I'm not sure what form it would take. Maybe some other adventurer took notes on her?
((Your post is gone? I found it, it's just on the previous page))

"Hurricane, I heard you were seeking more information on the sentient painting? It was Jaxudyzad and I who brought her to her current resting place, so perhaps we can help you. She is a dangerous entity, I believe, though the limits of her power have not yet been tested."

Also am I right in thinking we are at Floor -1 right now?

You have indeed reached floor -1. North-east leads to the large hexagonal room, exits north, north-east and south-east. Broken mining gear (or something like it) in the middle of the room.

Here's a map of where we are. The distance between our current location and the beholder lair area is not at all to scale.

Let's give the mining machines a wide berth and go south-east. If no plants stop us, we'll be looking for a way north from there.
(I always have to read the instructions twice to make sure I have't missed a turn somewhere. )
EDIT: Also I just realized, if we went north from the hexagonal room, we should be able to get to a riverbank and Seymour. That could be much a shorter way back to CB0 as we return.

You have a good feeling about your sense of direction right now! ((And are correct))
Going around the outer wall, you head down the tunnel and reach a large stone door that has been completely torn off it's hinges. Out of it comes a scent of rich earth, growing things, and some very faint perfume-y smell that you can't place. Looking in, you can see that the stone turns to dirt turns to loam, and scattered about the floor are dark green vines branching about every way. There are several large bushes tucked up against the wall, and the light of your torch gleams off a still pool of... water? That might not be water, it looks far too dark even with the light on it.
What do you do?

I pick up a rock and throw it into the room, trying to have it fall near the pool but not into the "water".

"The lady seems of exceptional taste! She seems quite friendly to me, why would you think she is dangerous?"
I think notes of another adventurer would be a good form for it to take or perhaps a lost journal of her own?

I will try to identify the vines. Of what country or land could they be from? I have been to many places since my separation from my knightly order (on mobile since traveling so please roll for me if needed)

I'll give the journal some thought!
The vines don't seem like anything you've ever seen before Hurricane. They are dark, yet gleam in the torchlight, and shiver weirdly as the rock bounces among them. You'd expect roots to act like this, not vines.
Henry, on the other hand, has definitely seen plants very similar to these before. It's a less dense growth than the other room near the levitating axe, but there are larger clumpy bushes scattered along the walls that you don't recognise.

"Beware! These plants drink blood instead of water. Don't get too close or they will attack."
Is it possible to get through the room while staying out of the plants' reach? If not, then we probably have to choose between killing them, or bull-rushing our way through.

They are pretty established throughout the room, you can see a path or two where they are growing less thickly, but no completely clear way.

"Alternately, they would probably fear fire? I have some alchemical wine left and some lantern oil, we could discourage them attacking us with some molotovs." If the others agree, I would try to create borders of spilt flammables around a path to the north of the room, using my telekinesis to safely float the bottle(s) and pour the oil. Then we get ready to run and set fire to the oil, flames shielding us on both sides from the plants. Spwack How much oil would that require?

You can use as much of that oil or wine as you like! How many doses of each are you using? I'll say there's about two (out of three) doses of the alchemical wine left, you could mix one dose of that with a bottle of oil?
