Henry XIV is humbled by the generosity of Hurricane and Jaxudyzad. "You are correct, Hurricane. We are all trapped here together, and we must work together to survive. Your generosity will not be forgotten when I regain my throne!" I take it there are two separate expeditions leaving now, can I get a bit more detail about each one? Blerble is going up the river to find a city or something? And Jaxudyzad is trying to get a psionic crown?
Spwack I will tell the Professor about the axe and "bank" the secret if that's possible. I'd also like to know what spells he has for sale, and if there are any spells in the loot pile. I'll have to think carefully about what I want to inscribe and where. Does scribing consume the spell?

I'm seeking a crown that should improve my psychic abilities. I don't know if there will be any other treasure to be had on my expedition, we'll see.
Blerble, I believe, is going after the injured beholder. (Or maybe to the drow city?)

garmrBe sure to note that you are owed a credit for the axe information. The remaining scrolls on sale are (prices in cp): - Scroll of Banish Smell (100) - Scroll of Channel Lightning (150) - Scroll of Astral Bait (150) - Scroll of Teleportation (3000) [WARNING: This scroll cannot be used to directly escape the dungeon, it can only teleport to places within the dungeon] The other two scrolls that are in the loot pile are the Scroll of Squarity and the Scroll of Confusion. Scribing does indeed consume the spell. red_kangaroo"You can pay in advance if you like, but I hafta warn you, I can get ye armour, but it may not be what you are lookin for..." Healing potion ordered, but curse-breaking is a little more complicated. "Ah, that's a little complicated. Curses are a wide and varied bunch, and it's hard to know what exactly will fix the problems at hand. Exactly what kind of malignancy are you trying to revoke, if you don't mind my asking?" ((Would people prefer to have a thread specifically for future orders and requests from the vending machines, or are they happy to store that on their character sheet?)) wingilbearNew thread started here

Fuck it. I'm going to buy Channel Lightning, then I'm going to inscribe that onto my right hand and Swan Bat on my left. Let's see what happens.
(I've decided that the porcelain doppelgangers usually only use their 'inscription' ability to adorn themselves with elaborate sigils, sort of like magical cryptographic ciphers that verify your identity and social class. Using inscription for functional purposes is considered gauche, even taboo, which explains why Henry knows about it but isn't really sure how it works.)
I'd also like to know the prices of a ) iron spikes and a mallet b ) an empty potion bottle

red_kangaroo, I'd very much like to join you if that's alright!
"You seem like an inquisitive and valorous fellow. I cannot explain it, but I feel a kinship with you and I wish to help you gain mastery over this new found power and then perhaps we can continue on to escaping this place."
I'll add the armor to my character sheet.

"Thank you, Sergeant, I'm sure I will be happy with anything you procure." "Not so much revoke as safeguard against, Professor. I would like to have some sort of remedy or protection against curses for when I return with the crown and try it on. I would rather assume that ancient artifacts will have side effects than have my head explode." ((I don't mind having it on my character sheet, that way it's at least all in one place and I won't forget.)) frankiestein Of course, come along.

garmrI like the sound of that! The only issue is, I'd figure you would need fine gold wire and some kind of, etching equipment? A wooden mallet would be about 2sp, and iron spikes would be, 1sp each? For big hefty railroad spikes that would be useful for blocking doors or making pitons. ((The dungeon has wartime costs, except dungeoneering equipment is also pricey)). Empty potion bottles, maybe 5cp each? red_kangaroo"Ah! That... that is much trickier. I truly am sorry that I cannot promise you any assistance in that regards. You are wise to be cautious in this venture, but I can only wish you the very best of luck."

"Never mind then, thank you. We shall see what we shall see." garmr I have a hammer if that helps, and I believe that the Sergeant was selling a chisel.

Spwack: Ah ok, I didn't realise I would need to do the whole process "realistically". In that case I think the simplest method would be to etch the spell sigil into my skin with a dagger, then paint molten gold into the etched design. For this process I would need: - a dagger or other pointed tool (easy) - a crucible in which to melt the gold (maybe a potion bottle? Or one of those mysterious mechanical spheres?) - a source of heat (the brazier in CB0 is cold to the touch, right? If so then I'd probably use the wall of fire) - something to "paint" the gold into the etching. A large sewing needle would probably be ideal, but a shard of glass or scrap metal would work in a pinch
If that sounds reasonable to you, I'll start collecting the tools.
In the meanwhile I'll buy 4 iron spikes and 2 potion bottles.

I'm happy to handwave some of the details, I just couldn't rationalise going from gold coins to gold in skin, and dealing with magic always "feels" better the more realism that there is involved, if that makes sense. And that certainly sounds reasonable to me! The mechanical sphere would work well, it even has a open holes that would work as nozzles.

from cell block zero I am going to grab the evil wand, the cursed grimoire, the black box from the the gundead and the seven league boot.
going to professor spell o matic first to tell him about the magical crab people and how they have captured the beholder and going to ask them about the black box and see if they know anything about it.
after that I am heading for the worm queen.
Which is west, take the minecarts, east, down to tall room, then climb the grappling hook to the balcony

((I've completely forgotten everything about the gundead black box. Were any notes or information attached to it?))
"Fascinating! A whole species building a civilisation atop an ocean! It will be interesting indeed to see what kind of progress they can make with the magical abilities of a Beholder at their command..."

No additional info was given about it. We stole it from the tower. I think from some sort of treasure chest.

Not a lot at all. I'm tempted to send a mass email to all players and remind them that this exists. Or, you can try do some recruiting of your own. Or, you could swap out Blerbles for Phykalla temporarily?

I’m going back out with blerble to search for the gem construct. Starting west I will take the minecart up to floor +1 which is the floor it is wandering then I think I will head south and start walking through the rooms I know past the spiralizing lichen, west to the magical bubble barrier

I would like to prepare for the trip to the wall of fire. I believe what I will need is: - Gold - Scribing implement - Pot to hold molten gold - 2 spells (Channel Lightning and Swan Bat)
I have all of that except the lightning spell which I will purchase from the Professor now.
Is there anything else that Henry would know is required? I guess maybe some tongs to hold the gold close to the fire?

(just as a note, I'm having a lotta fun just tagging along and I have a lot of other projects I'm working on at the moment so it works best effort-wise).
"Henry! Might we accompany you? You might needed another hand! I'm afraid I don't need anything from here." I'll look to Herald and Wizard to make sure their needs are met.

Jax: You've only been gone for a few hours, if that, so One-Hit has sent the order but hasn't got it back just yet.
Henry: Seems reasonable to me! Purchase made. I don't think anything more would be need, apart from maybe some background - you mentioned that inscribing spells was seen as gauche and below the nobility. Does Henry have any relatives who've perhaps done it, or heard any stories about how it went?
Hurricane: ((Perfectly fine, that's what this is for!)) Herald and Wizard are fine. Wizard sidles up to you "Squire will be. Somewhere. He will find us eventually."

In that case, can I regain hp by taking off the crown, switching the necklace to my hands again and resting (and maybe eating a ration)? Sergeant Toughmuffins probably also won't have my order yet, so once I have some hp back, I'm good to go to the fire wall.

Spwack How much do I have to spend for the Channel Lightning scroll?
Henry recalls a great-uncle, the black vase of the family, who scribed all sorts of meta-spells onto his body. He was convinced he could develop a spell that would swap itself with any other scribework, allowing him to steal the scribework of a high ranking noble and legally *become* that noble. He was basically the porcelain doppelganger equivalent of a sovereign citizen - everything he believed about the law was nonsense. When he finally tried it, the court laughed at him and had him banished to the Abominable Wastes.
I'll start a new thread while we finish any final preparations here.

garmr Channel Lightning costs 150. That poor benighted uncle! Henry must be pretty desperate for power to try anything similar. What are you hoping will happen?

Henry, arrogant is he is, probably imagines he will be able to shoot lightning from his hand at will. But if that's too much then just being able to electrocute things by touch?
